描述：	The Virginia Outdoors Foundation was awarded $281,150 from VLCF to place an easement on the 563-acre Carneal property. The property contains high forest value, with approximately 350 acres ranked as "outstanding" by the Virginia Department of Forestry. The southern portion of the property lies within the Saltville Battlefield Historic District with a series of well-preserved and historically significant Civil War fortifications. In addition to its forestal and historic values, the property contains frontage on the North Fork Holston River and nearly two miles of perennial tributaries to the river. The western two-thirds of the property fall within an Ecological Core ranked C1 ("outstanding") and the property provides habitat for multiple natural heritage species. In addition, it shares its western boundary with the Clinch Mountain Wildlife Management Area and is in close proximity to a privately-held VOF easement to the east.
